Perawatan Space Regainer pada Premature Loss Gigi Molar Sulung Rahang Atas dan Bawah – Laporan Kasus

Karies merupakan salah satu penyakit yang paling banyak diderita anak-anak dan
dewasa muda. Karies dan trauma dental yang terjadi pada anak-anak dapat
menyebabkan gigi tanggal sebelum waktunya, biasa disebut premature loss, dan dapat
menyebabkan kelainan oklusi yang disebabkan penyempitan lengkung rahang. Space
regainer adalah alat aktif yang digunakan untuk memperoleh kembali ruangan yang telah
menyempit pada lengkung gigi akibat premature loss. Anak laki laki berusia 9 tahun
ditemani ibunya datang ke RSGMP Unjani pada tahun 2018 dengan keluhan gigi belakang
kanan atas dan belakang kanan dan kiri bawah hilang karena dicabut. Ibu pasien khawatir
gigi penggantinya tumbuh tumpang tindih. Pemeriksaan intra oral menunjukkan
kehilangan gigi 54,75,84,85. Analisis model menunjukkan adanya penyempitan ruang -
0.9 mm maksila dan -0,7 mm pada mandibular. Pasien dilakukan perawatan space
regainer lepasan mandibula disertai skrup ekspansi. Aktivasi skrup ekspansi dilakukan 1
minggu sekali dengan ¼ putaran. Perawatan space regainer pada pasien ini dilakukan
sebanyak 4 kali dan hasilnya sangat memuaskan.
